Orthovisc Information:
Orthovisc is a sodium hyalrunate treatment for your knees that is administered by your physician. When the synovial fluid (joint fluid) in the knees becomes less healthy due to osteoarthritis, the person will begin to experience irritation, discomfort, and pain. The synovial fluid is the liquid found in your knees that act as both the lubricant and shock absorber. Injecting Orthovisc directly into the joint will help restore the lubricating and absorbing properties of the joint fluid. The treatment for Orthovisc consists of 1 injection administered on a weekly basis for 3 weeks.
Orthovisc Side Effects:Some of the common side effects of Orthovisc are minor pain, swelling, itching, bruising and/or redness in the injection area, heat rash. Generally, these side effects are mild and last for a short time. If problems do not subside, or other symptoms arise, please contact your physician.
