Synvisc Information:

SYNVISC is a viscosupplement, a treatment that lubricates and cushion knee joint and relieves pain. The treatment will allow you to move more freely for up to 6 months and beyond. When a knee undergoes osteoarthritis, the synovial fluid (the joint fluid) breaks down and is unable to provide the cushioning your knees requires. SYNVISC will relieve the pain from your knees and assist in regaining some of the knee joint’s shock absorbing capabilities, thus allowing more movement for the natural activities in your life. The treatment for Synvisc consists of three weekly visits to the doctor’s office where the product will be injected directly into the knee.

Synvisc Side Effects:

Some of the side effects that have been experienced by some SYNVISC users have been pain, swelling, and/or fluid build-up around the knee. If extensive pain or swelling is experienced, please consult your physician. Another side effect that has been experienced have been rashes.

Synvisc Precautions:

Discuss with your doctor before using SYNVISC. If you have an allergy to avian products, SYNVISC is not for you. You should disclose to your doctor if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or are nursing. Also, if you are planning on physically strenuous weight-bearing activities, you should speak with your doctor.
